KILLING ROCK’N ROLL

I must confess that
none of them
could sing
before punk
most of them
were dead
it would be
a good idea
to play the drums
in a blizzard
of drugs
well, Arthur
it wasn’t
normal
it’s hard
perilous
in the glory days
thirty-five died
picking up
a guitar
coming home
from school
things
are different
nobody is dead
this is the problem
no hotel room
hookers
and cocaine
